The University of Greenwich has won many prizes and award for its research. This project is managed by the eCentre research group which is based in the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences and has over 40 active research members from across the university working in the following key areas: e-Learning, Crisis management and training, Social and Community Research, and Digital Film / Television.

Technical and Operational Coordinator

EOS is the leading European organisation for private sector providers of security technology solutions and services, coming from the civil security, defence, ICT, energy and transport domain. EOS has 43 members among the most important private security industry and research centres in Europe, belonging to 13 European countries and active at worldwide level. EOS priorities span from Border Control to Civil Protection, Crisis Management, Critical Infrastructure Protection, and Cyber Security. The main objective of EOS is the development of a consistent European Security Market in close cooperation with users from the public and private sector.


CTIF, the International Technical Committee for the Prevention and Extinction of Fire, was founded in Paris in 1900 to encourage and promote co-operation among fire fighters in the world and other experts in the field of fire and rescue. An international non-governmental organisation of fire and rescue services present in 40 Countries Worldwide it represents five million fire fighters who protect a population of one billion people. It is present in 27 EU Member States and activities include international fire brigade competitions held every four years and attended by more than 3.000 fire fighters from around the world.

The Civil Protection Department (CPD) is a local authority on the structure of the Lisbon Municipality. CPD is responsible for the management of the city during crisis and exceptional conditions and works in articulation with the National and District Authorities for Civil Protection. According to the Civil Protection Portuguese Law, the main intervention areas are collective risk prevention, and their effects in case of disaster or accident.


Training 4 Resilience provides affordable, agile and flexible training solutions to support all aspects of emergency preparedness, response and recovery. The company offers bespoke training courses, training exercise design and delivery, training/conference delivery systems, and support for community resilience projects. Training 4 Resilience work closely with the UK Emergency Planning College, which provides emergency planning and crisis management training for both public and private sector clients on behalf of the Civil Contingencies Secretariat (CCS) of the Cabinet Office.

The Center for Security Studies is a public scientific, research body with administrative and financial independence supervised by the Greek Minister of Public Order and Citizen Protection. It conducts research, studies and analyses on issues pertaining to homeland security, citizen protection, crime prevention and land-border management. In that scope it has developed security plan for daily operation and major event crises for high profile organisations such as the Athens Metro Operation Company. In addition, it has been nominated as the national contact point for European and national critical infrastructures protection.


The University of Chester was founded in 1839 and was awarded full university status in 2005, followed by the right to award its own research degrees in 2007. High Corsica Fire Department and Rescue Service (SDIS2B) is a French public administration responsible for prevention, preparedness, protection and operational response for all types of crises. It has to mitigate and face every kind of risks, such as flooding, wildfire, scuba diving, urban & rural rescue, mountain, snow, storm and terrorism risks. This service protects a population between 161,000 and 400,000 people during summer time especially with high touristic risk. SDIS2b ensure a coverage of over 450 000 hectares of forest and highly combustible vegetation achieving, every year, less than 1,500 hectares forest burned since 2003 (23,000 ha in 2003).
